The Importance of Social Emotional Learing

Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) is an educational approach that aims to teach and equip students with critical social and emotional skills that are necessary for success in school, work, and life. These skills primarily include relationship skills, self-awareness, empathy, and responsible decision-making.

Middle school students are at a sensitive stage where they are experiencing significant changes in their lives. They are transitioning from childhood to adolescence, and as such, they need to acquire social and emotional skills that will help them navigate their way in life. These skills are essential both inside and outside the classroom as they help students form healthy relationships, set goals, and make responsible decisions.
